Saturday, September 14th at 10:30 am
Length: All Day
Teacher: Angela Childress
Whether you are a beginner weaver or more experienced, your Rigid Heddle loom can offer you more potential than just plain weaving. Learn to create an Open Lace like structure to add a simple variation to a plain weaving pattern. Leno lace is simple to accomplish using finger manipulation of the warp threads and a pick up stick.
In this class we will warp your personal loom for a small scarf or a table runner / dresser topper. Or you can break up your projects into multiple dish cloths. The choice is yours. But whatever you make, Leno lace will add a little touch of elegance into your wardrobe and home. We will discuss using a scrap yarn “header” and footer to help with evening warp spacing and tension. Students will learn how to create a simple leno lace, and discuss finishing techniques such as the Hem Stitch. Participants will not complete a project in class, but will get a great start to finish at home.
Any Prerequisites: Students must have taken Intro to Basic Weaving or have woven a simple plain weave project.
Supplies students need to bring:
- Personal Rigid Heddle Loom 10” minimum. Or you may rent one from the store for the duration of the class.
- Rigid Heddle – 8 dent or 7.5 dent (depending on the brand of loom).

Participants may use the yarn they desire, if the yarn is tightly spun enough to hold up as a warp yarn. Solid colors are recommended.
