Have you ever wanted to knit fair isle? If so, learn the two-handed fair isle technique and make some cute wrist warmers. In this class, you will learn how to select the best colors for the fair isle, hold the yarn in your left and right hand, knit the fair isle in the round, and pick up the floats with either yarn color in either hand. Even though it’s SUPER-HOT outside, come enjoy the cool temps in the yarn store and get a head start on cute fair isle gifts for your family and friends!

Prerequisites: knit stitch, long tail cast on, and knitting in the round.

Supplies Needed for Class: Worsted weight yarn in 3 colors, 40 grams of background color and 20 grams of each for two other colors. Long US 6-8 circular needle for magic loop knitting, depending on tension (we will offer 10% off supplies purchased at the day of class). Plus an open mind to using non dominant hand.

8/10 – Introduction to Tri Loom Weaving

This is an introduction class which teaches you how to weave a triangle cloth on a triangle loom. We will use a tri loom, variegated yarn, and a Tunisian crochet hook. Tri loom cloths can be made into a variety of items such as shawls, scarves, table runners, hats, gloves and many more things. This weaving technique is very simple and you take home a beautiful piece.

Supplies for class will be provided and you will take home a small kerchief.

Prerequisites: single crochet and crochet in the round

Are you interested in weaving your own cloth? Or just looking for something new to put your yarn stash to use? This class is designed to be a very basic introduction to weaving on a rigid heddle loom. You will learn how to warp a loom, and then begin to practice weaving a plain weave. Finishing techniques will also be discussed. class price includes all supplies for the class. Looms are available for in class use and student should not expect to complete a project in class. If you purchase a loom in store, or bring your loom, we can warp your loom for a small project to complete at home.

8/31 – Caring for your Spinning Wheel

Did you just purchase a spinning wheel and want to know how to care for your wheel?  Do you have an antique wheel that needs some minor TLC?    Or are you still looking to purchase a spinning wheel and want to know how to care for your future friend from the start?

This class is for you!   In this class participants will work hands on with their own wheel to learn how to maintain the wood, oil the vital parts, and keep your spinning wheel in tip top shape.    We will also begin to put together a spinner’s tool kit, for you to finish at home.

Our spinning wheels work hard for us, and in this class we learn how to care for them!      We will also go over minor restoration repairs and discuss resources for more involved repairs. 

Class participants will need to bring their own spinning wheels. Or if you do not yet have a spinning wheel, two will be available for hands on practice.
