We are excited to host the World Wide Knit in Public Day!! Come and join us for Yarn at the Farm…
Join us as we knit with hundreds of people around the world on the same day!
The event is the 18th of June, starting at 10:00 am and ending at 4:00 pm. We will be staging the event in front of Get Stitchin’, located in The Farm Shopping Center. We will have special visitors from Clumberskye, LLC. Christina Cox, Clumberskye, will talk about her furry friends and how they help with the wool/yarn industry.
SPINNERS – Heaven Sent Food and Fiber will be bringing some wonderful raw fleeces of their Merinos and Merino/Corridale mixes. These luscious fleeces have long staple lengths and are great for spinning.
We will have fresh mini-muffins from Great Harvest waiting for you until they run out; plus we will have coupons from them for your lunch experience.
Be sure to bring a comfy chair and sunscreen. We will be serving refreshments to wet our whistles. Heaven Sent will be providing their tent and tarp to help give us more shade while we knit outside. If it gets too hot for you or rains, then please come on inside Get Stitchin’ or one of the eating places at The Farm.
Don’t forget to bring your oldest or ugliest yarn, so you can enter our contest and maybe you will win a prize.
Come join us and explore our different activities.
- 10:00 am to 11:00 am – We are starting early enough for you to come out and enjoy The Farm’s Market. The Farm’s Market has a wide variety of items to view. They have freshly picked fruits and vegetables, pasteurized meats, free-range chicken, home-grown wines, freshly baked goods, hand-made items and much more. Sue from Heaven Sent Food and Fiber is offering her freezer to store your frozen purchases during the remainder of the day, so you don’t have to run home and back.
- 10:30 am – 12:30 pm – Jane Deason, Angora Jane, will be teaching spinning classes. She takes great pride in the success of many past students and it is her greatest intent that everyone leaves with a skein of yarn created by their own hands and the knowledge to continue their endeavor. This class is $40 if you bring your spinning wheel or $50 if you need to rent one. There are a limited amount of wheels that can be rented, so be sure to call us at 918-481-1055 to rent a wheel. All fibers are included to spin your skein of yarn.
- 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm – We are going to have our contest of oldest yarn and ugliest yarn. The winner of each contest will receive a prize; plus, we will be drawing our door prize (winners must be present).
- 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm – We are holding a yarn swap. Bring yarns that you no longer want and see if you can trade for a different yarn that could inspire you. We will set out a table in front of the store to allow everyone to display and trade with each other.
